If you live in a congested area yet you still want to grow orchids, you can use a glass case. This case is commonly called as the Wardian case. What makes this glass special is that it provides a heating system for your orchid.

Orchid plants need heating, with the glass case the heating system is done with an electric bulb and electric coil. At the bottom, it has a pan, which holds water so that the air in the glass case will be humidified. Humidity is a large part of orchid plant care. You can add moisture to your orchid in the glass case by laying lamp wicks in the glass and the other end of the wick in a pan of water.

The Wardian case is just a small house for your orchid plant, it might not satisfy your love for growing orchids. Sometimes, you might even think that your orchid plant will grow lonely or you might see it as imprisoned. For something that you can put your whole self into, you can build a greenhouse for your orchids! Greenhouses are glass structures and are equipped to meet the environmental conditions that orchids need.

You don't need to worry a lot about giving your orchid plant care. The environment it needs will easily be replicated in greenhouses. You can control ventilation, humidity, sunlight and temperatures. In greenhouses, your orchid plant can be housed with several other plants. In building a greenhouse, there are many things that you need to consider such as the possibility of out growing your greenhouse or growing out of interest of your plants.

Inside the greenhouse, the ideal space each orchid plant will vary depending on their specie. Some plants can grow and thrive in thumb pots while others need bigger space to grow. For starters, in orchid plant care, you can set a space of a square foot per plant. Its better to set them far apart than over crowd your plants. Over crowding should be prevented because with overcrowding, some plants will die due to poor air circulation and problems of pests and disease will sprout. Make sure that you will provide space for future acquisitions of orchid plant.

Care for your plants should never be the last of your priorities. Caring for your plants may cost more than you would expect. Start with the number of plants you know that you can take care of. It will help you decide the size of your greenhouse as well as the amount of time you spend in your greenhouse. Instead of orchid plant care being a hobby, it could become time consuming and stressful.

Start small. Smaller greenhouses cost less and are easier to maintain. Aside from that, you won't be tempted to acquire more and more plants. Larger greenhouses will be more costly to maintain but you are assured of superior heating, less plant crowding and proper ventilation control. Whether you opt for a Wardian case or a greenhouse, make sure that you can give the proper orchid plant care for your orchids.
